How can small businesses prepare for a change in ownership or leadership while protecting their knowledge and creating opportunities for innovation? As BS4INNO — Business Succession for Innovation approaches its final months, the Erasmus+ project is bringing together training resources and digital learning tools to support this transition.

Coordinated by ASSET Technology in Greece, BS4INNO connects vocational education and training (VET) with the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Its focus is on developing the skills of Business Succession Planners: professionals who can help businesses prepare, organise and navigate the succession process.
Connecting business succession with skills development
Business succession involves more than transferring ownership. It requires preparation, communication and an understanding of the people, knowledge and resources that support a company’s future.
BS4INNO addresses these needs through an occupational profile, a modular training programme and an online course for Business Succession Planners. Particular attention is given to digital skills and tools that can support the planning, monitoring and evaluation of succession.
The project brings together partners from Greece, Slovakia, Belgium, Italy and Cyprus, combining expertise in vocational learning, business support and consultancy.
Skillman’s contribution
Skillman leads the work on the online VET course, connecting the partnership’s educational content with the digital infrastructure and trainer support needed to put it into practice.
Its contribution includes:
Preparing and customising the learning platform: configuring the online environment, uploading training materials and supporting flexible access to the course.
Supporting trainers: helping partner trainers use the platform and deliver the learning programme.
Coordinating the Train-the-Trainers activity in Italy: bringing partners together to work through the materials, exchange teaching approaches and gather feedback.
Leading piloting and course refinement: coordinating testing across partner countries and supporting adjustments based on participants’ experiences.
Sharing results through the Skillman network: connecting the project’s resources with education providers, practitioners and institutions internationally.
