Thomas Nørup is the accountable manager in the department of Aviation at TEC. He sees the SKILLMAN project as very exciting and educative project to participate in. The development of a joint European curriculum in composite and the knowledge the project has added, in cooperation with SAS as the representative of the aviation industry, has been used in the training in both the vocational basic courses, the main programs and the adult vocational training courses. Forwardly the department of Aviation at TEC will continue to develop the competences and use the obtained knowledge in future development of the education for aircraft mechanics and B1-technicians. They expect in the nearest future to be able to apply the obtained knowledge in the education they will offer for the aviation industry.

The SKILLMAN project has been giving us an insight to the new challenges for the aviation mechanics that lies within the implementation of composite in the aircrafts. SKILLMAN gives us the possibility to interact with each other across national borders and it gives us the opportunity to borrow and use the knowledge of other countries as well. Our aviation technicians needs to be able to navigate within the complexity and at the same time keep a sense of perspective.

Although the project has been very educative for us to participate in, it somehow also creates new challenges. Concurrently with the new competences the flight mechanics are obtaining, other business are interested in them as well, because knowledge and competencies regarding composite are extremely desired in many different lines of business. Therefore, we as a provider of the education need also need to develop a strategy for holding on to the teachers in order to keep the competences within our organisation
